According to George Vail Kabristante, a writer for The Manila Times, Mennen Polintan's film career began in when his mentor Carlo Finioni brought him in to star in the drama film Hamunin ang Bukas.[1] He began his career with roles in films such as Sabik sa Halik, Machete II, Halimuyak ng Babae, and Kirot, in which he went by the screen name "Niño Espedi
